FYI – You mention Hawaiian Spam in your “About” page–I had the occasion a few years back to be in a Hawaiian Walmart (in Hilo, on the Big Island, Hawaii) and there was like, half an aisle dedicated to Spam. No kidding, it really is BIG over there. Sorry I didn’t get a photo for you, maybe someone out there can do a research trip to a Hawaiian Walmart and snap one on a camera phone…

I don’t actually know why. I know there are a lot of jokes about the whole “boiled to death” British food, but my guess is it has something to do with what was seasonably available or what was left over from autumn harvests. I have my next 19 or so posts planned out, but I’ll take a look and see what I can find out once Christmas has come and gone.
